About Us

The Parish Church of St Oswald – serving the Parish of Collingham with Harewood – is a Church of England church, within the Diocese of Leeds

Our church building, dedicated to St Oswald (604-642), a Christian King of Northumberland,  is thought to be Anglo Saxon with elements pre-dating the Norman Conquest of 1066 . Whilst undergoing a major rebuild in the fifteenth century, further restoring in the nineteenth, and even embracing a few home-comforts and mod-cons, it remains a stunning country church in a beautiful setting.
Just as importantly, this church building has been a place where people have gathered to worship, to offer prayer and praise, to seek solace, and to ask their questions of faith and doubt over all those centuries – and still do!
We also gather at St Oswald’s in order to be better equipped to go and live our daily lives more lovingly and more faithfully in all those other places – the places where we live and work and play.
Whether you are visiting this site to find out about the possibility of getting married or having your child baptised; to find some support and comfort following bereavement; to find some encouragement on your journey of Christian faith or simply some friendship and space where you can ‘be human’ with others; to find some services, events and activities which may be right for you, your family, your children…. then Welcome.
We hope that this website will prove both informative and helpful. You are most welcome, of course to get in touch with us and we will be pleased to try and help further – even better, come and see us to find out more.
We look forward to Welcoming You!
The Reverend Carolyn James
